Colombia defeated Ghana 1-0 on Friday to advance to the World Cup round of 16, where it will face Switzerland.

The Socceroos are hoping to create history by beating Egypt and becoming the first Australian side to win a World Cup knock-out match.

Colombia controlled Ghana on a sweltering night at Arrowhead Stadium, allowing Los Cafeteros to advance to the round of 16 at the World Cup with a 1-0 victory Friday night.

Colombia scored an early goal and controlled much of the game over Ghana in their World Cup round of 32 match.

The World Cup round of 32 concludes as Colombia face Ghana for the final spot in the last 16. Both teams have made early changes as Colombia's Jhon Cordoba and Marvin Senaya of Ghana were forced off with injury inside the first 13 minutes.

Jhon Arias scored the only goal as Colombia beat Ghana 1-0 in Kansas City on Friday to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16, where they will face Switzerland in Vancouver on Tuesday.
